Software

Microgaming is one of the highest recognized providers of online casino software and has been for many years. The company was established in 1994 and has thrived ever since and excelled with the release of their Viper software in 2002.
Microgaming Viper software has now become a benchmark for excellence within the online gaming industry and has proven to be the most efficient solution ever offered by Microgaming to it's operators and players.

The large selection of high impact games featuring some of the best graphics and sounds coupled with Microgaming's desire to be the best makes them a sound solution for both investors looking to operate an online casino and players alike.

The one thing we must mention is the fact that casinos powered by Microgaming Viper software have more slots than any other software provider out there making variety one of the key strengths.

General:
Evolution Gaming (www.evolutiongaming.com) are relatively new kids on the block, only forming in 2006 and not signing their first licensee until 2008. But their impact on the this form of gaming has since arriving on the scene cannot be overstated.
In just over 2 years they have managed to sign an extremely impressive list of licensee casinos and seem to have become the 'must have' product for all the big brands. Ladbrokes, 888.com, Victor Chandler, Blue Square, Unibet, Expekt, Sportingbet, Paddy Power, PartyGaming and a number of others have already jumped on board and the list seems to grow by the week.

Their dealer studio is located in Riga, Latvia and they are licensed and regulated by both the Latvian Gambling Authority and Alderney Gambling Control Commission.

Dealer/table range:

Impressive. Owing to exposure to the massive player base of their partner casinos (most of the above operators have customer lists in the millions), Evolution's games are in high demand and many tables and dealers operate round the clock. Last year they announced a major floor space expansion was required to their Riga studio to cope with the growing demand for their dealers and tables. As at May 2009 they had 185 dealers, with plans to expand to over 300 by end 2010.
Always innovating, these guys recently added a dedicated Spanish speaking dealer blackjack table recently which seems to have been adopted by most licensees.

Look and feel:

Until recently without peer, still very impressive. No doubt one of the reasons all the big boys are lining up to add this product to their gaming suite is the superb presentation of the games. Playtech recently bridged the gap with the full screen functionality available on their European dealer games, but up until then no other platform was as successful in creating the illusion of sitting at a real casino gaming table.
Another point worth noting about these games is that they are playable at low to moderate connection speeds. Obviously the gaming experience isn't as good as with a fast connection, but the video stream and interface generally seems very tolerant of connections in the 0.5Mbps-1Mbps where other HD video platforms struggle.
All games are playable in 'Classic' (left) and '3D' (right) views.

Casinos:
A veritable who's who of the online gambling world to choose from - 888.com, Unibet, Victor Chandler, Paddy Power, Blue Square, Ladbrokes, Party Casino to name a few.

Game range:
Moderate and growing. Includes VIP tables for the high rollers out there...

Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Net Entertainment was founded by one of Scandanavia's biggest off-line casino operators who saw the growing potential of the online casino industry. Playtech Cyprus Ltd was founded in the year 1999 by Teddy Sagi and has developed itself into one of the most important providers of gaming software for online casinos, online poker rooms, online bingo games and fixed-odds arcade games.
With its broad gaming market experience, Playtech's software is now successfully used in over 80 online casinos around the globe. On our website many of the top-rated online casinos are powered by the software that Playtech has build. Playtech keeps on improving and extending its portfolio and the casinos are happy to implement new games and features. The company is thriving in a highly competitive market and both recent results and future perspectives are beyond promising.

Skin & Layout

A Sparkling Appearance

The first thing to say about the skins that Playtech offers the online casino's, is that they always have an advanced 3D graphic with lots of animations in the background of the lobby. You see for example a city with nicely depicted buildings, covered with animated moving lights, a fountain that that's spraying gold colored water. These pictures are of high quality and everything has been thought of: the way the light hits the buildings from different angles; how the shades of all the objects are supposed to be; constantly flickering light hoses around many of the buildings; the stars in the sky sparkling from bright to duller.

Navigating Made Easy

With respect to the layout it stands out that the game selection menu in the Playtech casinos work in the same manner as the standard MS Windows start menu. So, as when it comes to the easy of navigating between the different games the Playtech casinos score fairly high. A minus of this striking resemblance is that it makes the menu somewhat corny.

Lack of Coherence

The other menu buttons, like 'options', 'help', 'cashier' and 'contact us', are spread over the interface at random and do not seem to share a common look. The items that correspond to these buttons open in a separate window, and some of them open in your internet browser. In this way the buttons are not organized very logically, and combined with the opening of multiple separate windows this makes the whole interface less orderly than at Microgaming.

Graphics & Sound

A Job Well Done

The graphics of the games that are offered at the Playtech casinos are just in one word amazing. It is clearly visible that the software developers have worked with great dedication on making the table games look as realistic as possible. The picture detail in these games is truly amazing. Just as with the background of the casino's lobby the image quality makes the games look very three-dimensional and amazingly real.

Table Games Graphics

Just look at the way the chip racks, the cup holders, and ashtrays look smoothly polished and the leather looks nice and shiny. The prints on the table felt look exactly like in a real life casino, and details like the dealer's well filled chip rack, the card holder, an extra deck of cards, and expensive leather stools. The positioning and measuring of just the right amounts of light and shadow in the picture are truly a piece of craftsmanship.

The Choice for Clarity

As it comes to the slot machines, video pokers and other games one can enjoy the same image quality and graphical detail. For some slot machines and video pokers only the displays are shown, but this is a logical and good choice for clarity's sake.

Serious Sound Effects

The sound effects can best be described with the word practical: no screaming music or loud dealer voices but just basic and good quality sounds of the cards being dealt, chips being bet, the spins of the slot machines and dealer providing the necessary info.

Play Fast - Win Fast

Next to the graphical and audio quality it stands out that the game play is really fast compared to Microgaming. Cards are being dealt instantly when you push a button, new cards come instantly when a game is finished, slots spin instantly: almost everything is without a delay.
All in all the combination of outstanding graphical quality, fast game play, and the right dose of good quality sound effects provide an excellent gaming experience.

Game Variety

Balance is Key

With over ninety different games divided among all popular casino gaming categories, Playtech offers a fairly good portfolio. Whereas Microgaming has a portfolio of over 300 games, it must be commented that 200 of those are slot machine games. The 90 games offered at Playtech are well divided among the important online gaming categories.

Arcade Action

On top of that Playtech offers a range of arcade games in its portfolio, which are not seen in the Microgaming portfolio. Examples of these arcade games are: heads-or-tails, jackpot darts, rock-paper-scissors and bonus bowling. The arcade games are all original games with great entertainment value to the player.

The Real Deal

Another great feature of the Playtech stable is the possibility to play games with a live dealer. You can play the games of Baccarat, Blackjack, Roulette or Sic Bo with real-time video images of the dealer at work. Microgaming offers a live dealer option as well, yet for them this option is relatively new, and therefore they only offer Baccarat and the feature is not implemented in all of their casinos.
Playtech provides online gamblers with a graphically high-grade interface, containing a unique, entertaining, and cleverly balanced portfolio of casino games with great graphical detail and a very enticing game play.
